Did you purchase a City Bed after May 10, 2023? Please use this article.
Our beautiful City Bed Frame and City Bed Headboard will augment any bedroom. Made in our FSC® certified (C156318) woodshop from solid timber, the frame, and the headboard are easy to set up. Assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver, a wrench, and a mallet (or another soft tool to tap the headboard in place), which are not included, and an Allen wrench, which we do include. Watch the above video or follow these instructions.
(Didn't get the headboard? Here are assembly instructions for the City Bed with no headboard.)
For the Bed Frame
Two short rails (top and bottom)
Two long rails (sides)
Four legs
8 Slats
1 Center support beam
1 Center support leg
9 Screws
1 Allen wrench
1 Leveler
First, unbox your Avocado City Bed Frame. You’ll want to unbox your frame in the room where you want it set up, with enough space to lay out the parts in the shape or outline of the frame.
Lay the short rails (top), long rails (sides), and side rails in the outline of the bed frame, upside down, with leg slot opening facing out. Match the top and bottom holes for alignment.
Next, align and connect/nest the first corner into the joint of its partner corner. Slide the leg in to hold the corner. Be sure the frame is square.
Slide the leg in to hold the corner. The leg should slide in the corner easily. If it does not, be sure the frame is square, and you have matched your leg with the correct rail.
Insert two screws into the leg. The screw on the long side of the frame should be placed in the lower hole. The screw on the short side of the frame should be placed in the higher hole. Tighten with the Allen wrench. Repeat Step 5 on the remaining legs.
Once you’ve tightly fastened the legs on each side, grab a partner and flip the bed frame so it’s now right side up, standing on the legs. Move the bed frame to its final position.
Attach the leveler to the center support leg.
Then, insert the screw to the top of the center support beam to attach it to the center support leg. Make sure the leg is straight, then tighten it with an Allen wrench to secure the leg.
Simply drop the center support beam into place. Then, adjust the leveler to be flush with the floor.
Next, place a wooden slat in each slat opening on the bed frame.
For the Headboard
2 headboard pieces*
2 “U” brackets
3 flat brackets
12 black screws
2 silver screws
2 washers
2 nuts
Allen wrench
*The King, California King, Queen, and Full sizes ship in two pieces. The Twin and Twin XL versions ship with the headboard as a single piece. On those sizes, you can skip steps 2-5.
Open the box and organize the various parts.
Place the headboard pieces flat on the ground facing down. Tap them together with a mallet or other soft tool.
Place the three flat brackets in the corresponding spaces on the back.
Use a Phillips screwdriver (not included) to screw in four screws on each of the three flat brackets.
Make sure the ends of the two headboard pieces are flush and aligned.
Slide the “U” brackets on so they sandwich the bed frame and the headboard, aligning with the holes in the bed frame.
Insert screws and a washer from the front side of the bed frame. On the back side, twist on a nut. Tighten nuts and screws with a wrench and the provided Allen wrench.
Enjoy your new bed frame, and sleep well!
