Is Avocado Climate Label Certified?

Avocado’s certification history with Change Climate Project, from its initial 2019 cohort to its current Climate Label.

Written by Mark Abrials, Co-Founder & Chief Sustainability Officer

Yes. Avocado Green Mattress holds The Climate Label, the climate certification run by Change Climate Project, a nonprofit. In a letter dated October 8, 2026, Change Climate confirmed that Avocado earned The Climate Label in 2026 by meeting all requirements of The Climate Label Certification Standard. Avocado was the first mattress brand certified by Change Climate, as part of its initial 2019 cohort.

Certified by Change Climate every year since 2019

Avocado has held an active Change Climate certification continuously since 2019:

  • 2019: Climate Neutral Certified, based on 2018 emissions, as part of Change Climate’s initial cohort of certified brands.

  • 2019 through 2024: Held Climate Neutral certification without interruption until Change Climate retired the program.

  • 2025: Certified under The Climate Label for the first time.

  • 2026: Climate Label certification renewed.

Change Climate’s original certification program was Climate Neutral Certified. The Climate Label replaced it, so brands that held Climate Neutral certification, including Avocado, moved to the new standard.

What The Climate Label requires

To earn The Climate Label, a brand must measure its greenhouse gas emissions, set reduction action plans, invest in projects that reduce emissions, and publicly share its climate commitments. Certification is renewed annually. You can read the full requirements in The Climate Label Certification Standard.

Our verified climate data

An independent third party verified our 2025 emissions of 25,798 tCO₂e, covering Scopes 1, 2, and 3, and Change Climate reviewed them against its certification standard. Since 2021, our absolute emissions have fallen 21%, and our emissions intensity has fallen 22%. For our 2026 certification, covering 2025 emissions, we funded $734,638 in climate projects. See our Climate Label page and Impact Report for the full data, or read how we reduce our carbon footprint without buying offsets.
