Yes. Avocado operates two directly owned and GOTS-certified manufacturing facilities — one in Fullerton, California, and one in Tecate, Baja California — plus a wood shop in Los Angeles where most of our furniture is built by hand.
Fullerton, California
Every Avocado organic mattress is handcrafted at our Fullerton facility — needle-tufted by hand by skilled bedmakers, and manufactured under GOTS certification, which independently audits not just our materials but our labor practices, working conditions, and environmental performance. Most of our furniture is built here as well, from our solid hardwood collections to our Zero Waste line, which is crafted entirely from offcuts generated in our own woodshop.
Tecate, Baja California
Our Tecate facility manufactures accessories, foundations, and our City Bed. Every one of the 305 team members at Tecate is a direct Avocado employee, working under Avocado policies and the same GOTS certification that governs our Fullerton operations — including independently audited wages, working hours, freedom of association, and worker safety. We located manufacturing in Tecate in part because the region's deep tradition of textile craftsmanship provides access to the specialized sewing skills our GOTS-certified products require.
Both facilities offer benefits that go beyond what certification requires: deeply subsidized daily meals, an on-site nurse, annual immunizations, free eyeglasses, and preventive health screenings.
Why It Matters
Owning and directly operating our facilities means we can hold the same standard across every product, every facility, every year — not as a self-reported commitment, but as an independently audited one. GOTS certification covers the entire supply chain from farm to finished product, including the factories where those products are made. See all of our certifications.
Across both facilities and our retail and corporate teams, Avocado employs 698 people. In an industry with historically high turnover, 7.3% of our employees have been with us for ten years or more — a reflection of what it means to work for a company where the mission is in the product you build with your hands every day.
