MADE SAFE® screens against thousands of substances known or suspected to harm human health, aquatic life, and wildlife. EWG Verified® requires full ingredient transparency and health-based screening — including prohibitions on chemical flame retardants, fiberglass, PFAS, and PVC. GREENGUARD Gold certifies against indoor air quality emission limits. UL® Formaldehyde-Free independently verifies the absence of added formaldehyde. Each standard tests for different substances through different methodologies, so that fewer gaps go unchecked.

The Avocado Green Mattress is built around GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex as its primary comfort and support material, replacing the polyurethane foam used in most conventional mattresses. Organic wool provides natural temperature regulation and serves as a flame barrier, eliminating the need for chemical flame retardants. The ticking is GOTS-certified organic cotton across most models. Coil counts go up to 1,379 fabric-encased coils across multiple firmness zones, with hand needle-tufting securing the comfort layers without chemical adhesives.

The Casper® Wave Hybrid uses a layered foam-and-coil construction: polyurethane foam comfort layers, a zoned memory foam layer designed for spinal alignment, a thin natural latex layer (~1.5"), gel pods for cooling, and pocketed steel coils. It is a well-engineered foam hybrid; the comfort and contour come primarily from the polyurethane and memory foam layers rather than from latex or natural fibers.

Avocado screens for 679 PFAS substances at parts-per-billion sensitivity across core materials and waterproof protectors. No detectable amounts have been found.
