Superior Standards

Anyone can claim their personal care products are healthy, non-toxic, cruelty-free, and socially and environmentally responsible. Our integrative wellness rituals are all of those things. But don’t take our word for it. We’ve gone through the process of obtaining verified, trusted industry certifications that prove our products are exactly what we say they are.

At Avocado, our goal is to be a positive force. We’re doing this by providing our customers with thoughtfully curated, potent hair, skin, and body regimens that make you feel great while showing other brands it’s possible to produce quality products without harming the environment. Transparency is vital to that commitment — and hugely important to us. That’s why we’ll always back up our beauty and wellness rituals with certifications you can trust.

USDA Certified Biobased® — Made from Plants

Biobased Products are derived from plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials. They provide an alternative to conventional petroleum-derived products. So, when we say our products are plant-based, it means simply that plants are the primary biobased resource we use to make them. We have a full ingredient glossary that helps explain the terms we use.

Carbon Negative

In 2019, Avocado Green Mattress became the first mattress company to become Climate Neutral Certified, effectively making our business "carbon neutral." A year later, we took it a step further by going carbon negative — offsetting more carbon emissions than the company generates. We do that by reducing everything we can, then by offsetting all of our scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. That's the full carbon footprint that our business activity generates, from resource extraction to finished product delivery. Our offset projects, which we purchase through the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, help mitigate climate change and support innovation in addressing greenhouse gas emissions reductions.

Wind And Solar Powered

The fossil fuel industry is a major contributor to climate change. We believe investing in clean, renewable energy is one of the surest ways to reduce our planet’s increased warming. And we’re helping to drive awareness by powering our Los Angeles factory — where some of our products are assembled — with 100% solar and wind energy thanks to our partnership with Arcadia Power.

The Leaping Bunny Standard provides the best assurance that products are free of animal testing; it’s a voluntary pledge that cosmetic, personal care, and/or household product companies based in the US or Canada make to clear animal testing from all stages of product development. A company's ingredient suppliers and/or manufacturers must make the same pledge. The result is a product guaranteed to be 100% free of new animal testing.

We’re all responsible for protecting the natural world. Part of that means prioritizing animal welfare. That’s why all of our skin + body products and formulations are free of animal products and byproducts, never tested on animals, and 100% vegan.
