A wedge pillow uses a fixed slope to elevate the upper body or legs without requiring stacked pillows that shift and flatten through the night. The angle is consistent, which is what makes it useful for acid reflux, snoring, leg elevation, and reading or working in bed. The right wedge depends on what you're using it for and the height you need.

Acid reflux and GERD. Elevating the upper body keeps stomach contents below the esophagus during sleep. A 7" wedge provides a gentle slope suitable for most users; those with more pronounced symptoms often prefer the steeper angle of a 10" wedge.

Snoring and airway support. Raising the head and chest opens the airway and reduces soft-tissue compression associated with snoring. A wedge provides more stable, consistent elevation than standard pillows stacked beneath a regular pillow.

Reading and working in bed. Positioned behind the back, a wedge supports an upright posture and reduces lower back strain during extended periods of sitting up in bed.

Leg elevation. Positioned under the knees or calves, a wedge can relieve pressure on the lower back and support circulation. The 7" height works well for most leg elevation applications.

Post-surgery or injury recovery. Many orthopedic recovery protocols recommend limb elevation. Confirm the appropriate angle with your care provider.

If you're unsure, the 7" is the more versatile starting point for most uses. The 10" is worth considering if you have a specific medical recommendation or have found a lower angle insufficient.
