Why Use a Coconut Coir Mattress Pad
A natural coconut coir mattress pad is a perfect solution for those looking for a comfortable and eco-friendly option for under their mattress — either on a solid platform base, adjustable base or bed frame/foundation with wood slats. Coir, made from the fibrous husk of a coconut, is a durable and renewable material that offers several benefits over synthetic or petroleum-based options.
Supportive: Coconut coir is a strong and resilient material that provides excellent support to your mattress. Its natural firmness makes it ideal for those who prefer a supportive sleeping surface.
Breathable: The fibrous nature of coir allows for improved air flow, which helps to keep you cool and comfortable while sleeping. This is especially important during warm summer months when synthetic materials tend to trap heat and make you sweat.
Hypoallergenic: Coconut coir is naturally resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew, making it a great choice for those with allergies or sensitivities. This makes it a healthier alternative to synthetic materials that can trap allergens.
Sustainable: Coconut coir is a sustainable and renewable material that is naturally harvested from the husks of coconuts, which are a waste product of the food industry. By using coir, you are helping to reduce waste and support sustainable practices.
Durable: Coconut coir is a tough and long-lasting material that can withstand daily usage. Unlike synthetic materials that may break down over time, coir will maintain its structure and support for many years.
Simply put, a natural coconut coir mattress pad is a great investment for those looking for a comfortable and sustainable mattress pad. Its supportive, breathable, hypoallergenic, and durable nature make it a superior choice over synthetic materials.

How is Coconut Fiber Made?
In the past, coconut fiber was considered a waste product, until organic farmers and hydroponic gardeners discovered its natural utility. To make coir, the harvested coconut is steeped in fresh or saltwater, a process called retting, and subsequently, the fibers are removed from the shell by combing and crushing, in the same process as jute fiber. These fibers are dried and spun into fibers called coir, which we infuse with GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex to make our Coconut Coir Mattress Pads. The finished product is organic and renewable.
