Size and Fit
Standard mattress sizes (Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen) fit most RV and camper platforms designed for them. Van and custom builds often require non-standard dimensions. Avocado does not offer custom sizing, so measure your platform carefully before ordering. The mattress should lie flat and fully supported across its surface — an unsupported overhang or a platform with wide gaps between slats can affect comfort and longevity.
Moisture and Ventilation
This is the most important factor in a mobile sleep environment. Latex and organic wool are naturally breathable, but any mattress in a van or camper is exposed to higher humidity, condensation, and temperature swings than a climate-controlled bedroom. A few steps make a significant difference:
Ensure airflow beneath the mattress. A solid platform with no ventilation traps moisture against the mattress's bottom. Slatted platforms or a ventilated base are strongly preferred.
Use a waterproof mattress protector. Our GOTS-certified organic waterproof protector is a practical first line of defense against condensation and spills.
Air the mattress out regularly, especially in humid climates or after consecutive nights in a sealed vehicle.
Avoid prolonged wet or humid storage conditions. Latex can tolerate temperature extremes — including below freezing — but sustained moisture exposure is the primary risk.
Warranty
Our warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal residential use. Using the mattress in a vehicle does not automatically void the warranty, but damage resulting from moisture exposure, inadequate support, or improper storage would not be covered. When in doubt, contact us before your trial period ends.
