What Is the Weight Limit On Your Bed Frames?

Avocado bed frame weight limits range from 900 to 1,500 pounds, depending on the frame. We handcraft our bed frames in our FSC®-certified (C156318) woodshops from solid, sustainably sourced timber — heirloom-quality furniture built to last generations. Here is the weight limit for each frame:

The weight limit refers to the total load the frame supports: your mattress, any foundation or bunkie board, bedding, and sleepers combined. For reference, a king-size Avocado mattress can weigh well over 100 pounds, so factor mattress weight into your total.

Weight capacity comes down to construction. Our frames are built from solid North American hardwoods with traditional joinery — not engineered wood, particleboard, or glued composites. Solid timber rails and legs distribute load evenly across the frame, which is why even our lightest-duty frame supports 900 pounds.

Heavier sleepers get the best mattress performance from a rigid, well-supported base. Any Avocado bed frame paired with a solid foundation or properly spaced slats provides that support. If total sleeper weight approaches 700 pounds — our recommended mattress maximum of 350 pounds per person — choose one of our 1,500-pound frames and pair it with a foundation rather than slats alone.
