How Much Does Shipping or In-Home Delivery Cost?

Shipping costs vary by product type, packaged weight, delivery service, and delivery address. Your exact costs are shown in cart and at checkout.

Shipping: Large Products via UPS® or Doorstep/Curbside Delivery

Orders containing large products—such as furniture and bases that ship via UPS® or Doorstep/Curbside Delivery—are charged $99 for the first large item. The maximum charge is $198 per order regardless of the number of oversized items shipping via UPS®/Doorstep Delivery. (The maximum weight for UPS® services is 150 pounds. Products over 150 pounds ship via Doorstep/Curbside Delivery or our optional In-Home Delivery & Setup services; fees are listed below.)

Shipping: Large Products via In-Home Delivery & Setup

Orders that contain oversized or heavy products that either include optional or required In-Home Delivery & Setup Services (commonly called "White Glove")—such as some larger-size mattresses, Extra Firm Mattresses and luxury mattresses that ship flat and may be crated, as well as some adjustable bases and larger furniture—ship according to the scale below, which is based on total shipping weight. For larger mattresses, optional In-Home Delivery & Setup Services are recommended due to their weight.

White Glove Delivery includes in-home setup of your new mattress and optional removal of your old mattress for an additional fee. This service is designed to provide a hassle-free experience, especially for heavier or oversized items.

Extended-Area Delivery

A small number of addresses — roughly 5% of orders — sit far enough from the carrier network that Doorstep/Curbside Delivery costs us significantly more to reach. These addresses are charged a one-time extended-area surcharge of $199 per order, regardless of how many items you're shipping.

The surcharge does not apply to In-Home Delivery & Setup. Our in-home teams run scheduled routes that already cover these areas, so if In-Home service is available at your address, it often costs only slightly more than curbside — and we recommend it.

Extended-area surcharges are shown in cart and at checkout before you pay.

Notes:

  1. Shipping fees, shipping surcharges (including Alaska, Hawaii, and extended-area addresses), and optional In-Home Delivery & Setup services are non-refundable.

  2. Optional In-Home Delivery & Setup is not available in all areas. Available delivery services and any applicable surcharges for your address will show in the cart.

  3. For In-Home services, our delivery team will schedule a time within a 4-hour window to deliver and set up your new mattress and furniture and, if desired, remove your old mattress, mattress foundation, or mattress box spring.

  4. Removal of existing items is not approved without purchasing the equivalent item from Avocado.

  5. Mattress removal is only available in select areas for an additional fee of $30, subject to local health regulations.

  6. Our delivery team cannot remove existing bed frames or other related bedroom furniture.

Why Do We Charge for Shipping?

Shipping is never "free" — many online retailers simply incorporate shipping costs into their pricing. We've decided to buck this trend and be more transparent. By showing the non-refundable shipping costs associated with our products, we hope guests will be more conscious of their purchase decisions and help us reduce our environmental impact.

The same logic applies to extended-area addresses. Rather than raise prices for everyone to cover the cost of reaching remote locations, we charge those deliveries what they actually cost.

For most mattresses, we cover shipping, but returns will incur a fee. Some models, like our Extra Firm Mattress, require paid In-Home Delivery & Setup due to their weight and construction.
