Doorstep Delivery: Everything You Need to Know

Doorstep Delivery (also known as Threshold or Curbside Delivery) is one of Avocado’s most common delivery methods—ideal for customers who want a simple experience without the need for in-home setup services or removal of old mattresses. SEKO and BTX are our primary third-party logistics (3PL) providers.

How Doorstep Delivery Works

  • Delivery Location: Your mattress or furniture will be delivered to the first dry, secure area outside your home, typically next to your front door or main entry.

  • Staircases: If stairs lead to your entrance, your item will be placed at the base of the stairs.

  • Customer Acknowledgment Required: This service is drop-off only. However, the delivery team requires a signature from someone at the delivery address to complete the handoff. This ensures the item is delivered safely and received by the intended customer.

What’s Included

  • Delivery to your doorstep or threshold.

  • A simple and convenient delivery process.

What’s Not Included

  • No unpacking or assembly.

  • No removal of packaging materials.

  • No in-home placement or setup.

  • No mattress removal or haul-away.

  • No post-purchase upgrades to In-Home Delivery service. All services must be selected during the checkout process.

Important for Large Items

Some of our larger mattresses—including:

  • Green and Vegan King Pillow-Top

  • California King Pillow-Top

  • Latex King and California King

..cannot ship via FedEx. For these, we automatically use our delivery partner’s Doorstep Delivery service.

How to Prepare for Your Doorstep Delivery

1. Clear a Safe, Accessible Drop-Off Area

  • Ensure the first dry, secure area outside your home is accessible—typically your front porch, garage entry, or covered carport.

  • If stairs lead to your front door, please ensure the area at the base of the stairs is clear and unobstructed.

2. Make Arrangements for Large or Heavy Items

  • If you’re receiving a King or California King mattress, these are heavy and bulky.

  • Plan to bring it inside after it’s delivered. Have someone available to help, especially if the weather is a concern.

3. Be Present to Acknowledge Delivery

  • While the delivery team will not enter your home, someone must be present to sign for the delivery.

  • If no one is available to receive and sign for the item, delivery may be rescheduled.

4. Pets & Children

  • Please ensure pets are secured and children are safely out of the delivery area during drop-off.

5. Note: No Setup or Trash Removal

  • There is no unpacking, setup, or haul-away of packaging materials or old mattresses. Prepare a place inside your home where you can open the packaging and assemble or position the item afterward.

Tracking & Delivery Appointments

Once your item ships, you’ll receive a tracking link:

  • SEKO: The tracking page will show an “expected arrival” date above the status bar. This reflects when your order is estimated to arrive at the local terminal, not your actual delivery date. After it arrives in your area, SEKO will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. Support: (866) 268-5263

  • BTX: Tracking updates typically populate within 24–48 business hours. You’ll see scan updates as the shipment travels and once it arrives at the local terminal. BTX will call you to schedule an appointment after it becomes available in your area. Support: (877) 289-2471
