Doorstep Delivery: Everything You Need to Know

Curbside and Doorstep Delivery (sometimes referred to as Threshold Delivery) is one of Avocado’s most common delivery methods — ideal for customers who want a simple, sustainable experience without in-home setup or mattress removal.

We partner with trusted third-party logistics providers, SEKO and BTX, to make your experience smooth, safe, and dependable. Customers can now choose Contactless Delivery or Delivery with Signature during checkout.

Delivery Options: Contactless or Signature Required

1. Contactless Delivery

For a completely no-contact experience:

  • The delivery team will not enter your home.

  • Your order will be left at your doorstep, threshold, or curbside — whichever is the first dry, secure area outside your home.

  • No signature is required.

  • You’ll receive a delivery confirmation notification once the item has been delivered, along with a photo that can be viewed via your tracking link.

This option is ideal if you prefer a no-contact, no-hassle handoff.

2. Delivery with Signature (Standard)

For customers who prefer to personally acknowledge receipt:

  • Someone at the delivery address must be present to sign for delivery.

  • The delivery team will hand off your items in the designated drop-off area (doorstep or curbside).

  • The team will not enter your home, unpack, assemble, or remove packaging.

This option ensures the item is received safely and confirmed by the intended customer.

How Curbside & Doorstep Delivery Works

Delivery Location

Your mattress or furniture will be delivered to one of the following locations:

  • The first dry, secure area outside your home — such as a front porch, garage entry, or covered carport.

  • If stairs, gates, or access issues prevent doorstep placement, the item will be placed curbside or at the base of your driveway/stairs.

What’s Included

  • Delivery to your doorstep, threshold, or curbside (based on accessibility).

  • Either contactless or signature-required handoff, depending on your selection.

  • A simple, convenient, and safe process.

What’s Not Included

  • No unpacking or assembly.

  • No removal of packaging materials.

  • No in-home placement or setup.

  • No mattress removal or haul-away.

  • No post-purchase upgrades to In-Home Delivery service (all services must be selected during checkout).

Important for Large Items

Some of our larger mattresses — including:

  • Green and Vegan King Pillow-Top

  • California King Pillow-Top

  • Latex King and California King

cannot ship via FedEx due to their weight and size (FedEx’s limit is 150 lbs). These will automatically ship via our partner’s Doorstep Delivery or In-Home Delivery & Setup service.

How to Prepare for Your Delivery

  1. Clear a Safe, Accessible Drop-Off Area
Ensure the first dry, secure area outside your home is clear. If stairs or tight spaces make doorstep placement difficult, delivery may be made at curbside or the base of the stairs.

  2. Make Arrangements for Large or Heavy Items
King and California King mattresses are heavy and bulky. Plan to bring them inside promptly and have someone available to assist, especially in bad weather.

  3. Choose the Right Delivery Option
If you prefer Contactless Delivery, make sure the designated drop-off area is secure and protected from the elements. If you select Delivery with Signature, ensure someone is home during the scheduled delivery window.

  4. Pets & Children
Please keep pets secured and children away from the delivery area for everyone’s safety.

  5. No Setup or Trash Removal
Delivery teams will not unpack, assemble, or remove packaging. Prepare a space inside your home for unboxing and setup.

Tracking & Delivery Appointments

SEKO

  • You’ll receive a tracking link once your order ships.

  • The tracking page shows an expected arrival date (arrival at the local terminal, not the delivery date).

  • SEKO will contact you to schedule your delivery once they’re in your area.

BTX

  • Tracking updates typically populate within 24–48 business hours.

  • Once the shipment reaches your local terminal, BTX will call to schedule your appointment.
